Print your document from any library computer

Charge Student Account:

Students can charge directly to their student accounts. You must have a UCSC CruzID gold password. How to set CruzID Gold

After sending a print job, find the nearest Student Print Release station. Login to print the document and charge your account. Remember to logoff the release station after printing.

Billing Info:

  • Charges for this service are transferred to your Student account on a monthly basis.
  • If you need assistance figuring out your charges please email help@ucsc.edu with library printing in the subject line.
  • The balance shown on login to a release station is the sum of printing since the last billing cycle.
  • Bill Dates are available at http://sbs.ucsc.edu/acrobat/billsched.pdf. The library transfers the charges every month three business days before the billing date.
 

General Payment Method:

Anyone can purchase a Slug Copy Card. Cards can be purchased from the McHenry Library Commons area on the second floor, or in the back of the Cowell room at S&E Library. Slug cards requires a $1 bill for purchase (cost of card: 75¢; it will dispense a card with 25¢ of printing value), additional money can then be added to the card.

After sending a print job, find the nearest Slug Card print release station. Put the card into card reader next to the release station to print your document.

 

Printing FAQs:

Can I print double-sided (duplexed)?

Yes, double-sided printing is available at both libraries.

 

Can I print my own files (such as Word documents) in the library?

  • McHenry Library:
    Yes. Workstations with word processing software on them can also print word processing documents. The CruzNet network must be logged into before printing from the laptops lent by the Circulation Desk.

     
  • Science & Engineering Library:
    Yes. All workstations except the two Reserves stations next to the Circulation Desk can print MS Office files. Students, staff, and faculty can check out a laptop to edit and print MS Office documents. The CruzNet network must be logged into before printing from the laptops lent by the Circulation Desk.

 

Can I print in color?

  • McHenry Library:
    Yes. The color printer is on the 2nd floor.  Color printing is 65¢/page.
  • Science & Engineering Library:
    Yes. The color printer is in the Cowell Room. Color printing is 65¢/page.

 

Can I print the results of my Internet research in the library?

Yes, all public workstations in the library will allow you to print your Internet search results.

 

Can I print e-mails in the library?

Yes, you can print e-mail on all stations except the two Reserves stations next to the Circulation Desk in both libraries.

 

Can I print from microforms (e.g., microfilm or microfiche)? How much does it cost?

  • McHenry Library:
    Yes. There are three microfilm/microfiche readers with printing capability in the 2nd floor Commons area. Microforms printing is free.
  • Science & Engineering Library:
    Yes. There is one microfilm/microfiche reader with printing capability on the lower level by the Map Room. Microforms printing is free.

 

How long are jobs held in the print queue?

After you send a print job, it will be held in the system for 4 hours.
