Digital Initiatives

The Digital Initiatives Department supports the UCSC Libraries with guidance and digital services including digitization of materials, archival storage of electronic files, metadata development, library website development, and other activities as needed.

Openly available digitized collections are available on the Digital Collections site (see our list of recommended software to optimize viewing.). The department also prepares digital images for instruction and teaching at UCSC, and makes them available in ArtStor.

Electronic files are also archived in our WAS archives and in UC's Merritt repository.

The department is responsible for the library's social media presence.

The department also explores the use of emerging technologies in providing library services and information to students, faculty, and staff.
