Come to the circulation desk at either library and place a recall.
Recalled books are due back 14 days after the date of recall. For example, if you recall a book on March 1st, the patron who currently has the book must return it by March 15th. Books on hold for you will be kept at the Circulation Desk for one week.
If you are unable to locate a book that is not checked out, you may place a hold on it at the appropriate Circulation Desk (McHenry or Science & Engineering). A search will be instituted for the book, and you will be contacted as soon as the book is located.
Holds may be placed on reserve material up to one day in advance. Holds must be placed in person at the appropriate Reserve desk (Science & Engineering or McHenry) anytime the desks are open. Holds cannot be taken over the phone. A patron cannot place a hold on a book while s/he has it checked out. Reserve material may be renewed for an additional loan period if there are no holds placed on it. All reserve transactions must take place in person at the Reserve Desk where material was checked out.
